Matthew has a track record of delivering this kind of excellence: after many years with a leading systems integrator, he became a Director of a Europe-wide installation company where he put in place innovations that enabled the business to meet its exit strategy of a lucrative competitor buyout.

An engineer by training, Matthew quickly discovered a talent for systems design and project management, developing in-depth knowledge that enables him to deliver consistently stellar levels of support and advice to customers to this day.

With well over 20 years’ experience in the electronic security industry, Matthew is a well-known and respected specialist, with highly influential professional connections.

Chris Blake

Director; Principal Data Protection & Privacy Consultant

Chris leads the design and development of Firesand’s current and future services, making him a key player in the business’s strategic focus on customer needs.

With extensive experience of leading large-scale development, architecture and security projects, Chris specialises in designing and engineering security solutions, but also in validating and improving the security of existing systems, enabling customers to maximise the value of their past IT investments.

After several years with one of the world's largest retailers and ecommerce companies, Chris headed up the establishment of an ISO27001-compliant and certified Information Security Management System (ISMS) in the highly regulated e-gaming market.

He then contracted for some of the world's largest financial organisations at the same time as completing his MSc in Software and Systems Security at the University of Oxford. With over 17 years’ experience in the information security and privacy industry, Chris is one of the most certified, respected and connected specialists in this space.

Barry Johnson

Chief Technology Officer

Barry’s technical leadership and international experience underpins both the Firesand team’s value delivery to the customer and the business’s strategic plans for further international expansion.

A multilingual CTO with a Computer Systems Engineering degree from Brunel University and successful overseas careers in the US, France, Germany, Switzerland, Belgium, Ireland, Spain, South Africa, Sweden, Finland and India, Barry has over twelve years’ experience in the software consultancy, information security and asset management sectors, across multiple IT disciplines including networking, security, and hardware and software architecture.

Prior to this, he held senior professional services and pre-sales roles in several global enterprises, including Microsoft, Insight, and SoftwareONE, with clients across banking, financial trading, insurance, engineering, public sector, telecommunications, and logistics. This has given him invaluable insight into the security challenges that customers in different operating contexts face.

A big believer in measurable performance and continuous improvement, Barry has a track record of delivering triple-digit business growth, and continues to invest in his own professional and technical certifications (including CISSP, CCISO, CEH, VCP, MCP, CLE and many more) in order to better understand and serve the needs of Firesand’s customers.

Andrew Moore

Technical Consultancy Lead

A trained programmer, Andrew realised early in his career that he had a passion for helping others understand and use the revolutionary new PC technology of the time, and so resolved to pursue a customer-focused calling.

Andrew rapidly acquired an extensive technical skill set that enabled him to span the whole spectrum of customer need from supporting the humble desktop through to designing, implementing and supporting multi-million dollar heterogenous global networks.

He has amassed over 30 years of IT infrastructure, support and consultancy experience, honing his skills across a far more diverse range of customer sectors than most consultants, including Government, Oil and Gas, Food Manufacturing, Financial Services, IT Service (Dealerships), Consumer Analytics and New Media Marketing.

Andrew’s role in the Firesand team is to develop customers’ ever-increasing use of virtualisation and cloud-based platforms but in line with Firesand’s underlying ‘security-first’ strategy, protecting them and their business cost-effectively from the ground up, not as an expensive and ineffective afterthought.

Data Protection Consultant

Genine is a focused, driven individual that strives for excellence with over 15 years' experience in data protection and management. Having held various roles across different industries has resulted in a diverse, relevant and practical application of strategic management in several compliance and data protection projects. Experienced with developing, implementing and delivering robust, repeatable managed services & compliance programmes to achieve business goals and maintain governance. 

Her technical experience with various compliance tools covers both implementation and advanced usage to support delivery of compliance and governance managed services. She has delivered business process analysis work to assess an organisation's maturity to industry standards and best practices, as well as providing remediation advice for business process improvement. International experience working with clients and colleagues in UK, Ireland, US & India.

Hannah Woods

Junior Cyber Security Consultant 

Fresh out of full time education, Hannah is the newest member of the Firesand team. Using her knowledge acquired over her years studying Computer Science and IT, Hannah provides consultancy and assessment services to clients in a work clients in a work based higher eduction programme, as she completes her Digital and Technology Solutions degree. Under the guidance of the other Firesand members, Hannah will aid in the Vulnerability Management tasks ; provide remote support for IT security requests, participate in risk assessing infrastructure and provide compliance gap analysis.
